1. About us

PPTNOTE is a Windows application for creating notes from presentations. Publisher: 鹅卵石(Pebble). Privacy and support: pebble.apps@outlook.com. Effective date: 2 October 2026.

2. Local files and processing

Presentation import, rendering through locally installed PowerPoint/WPS, local OCR, note editing, and Word export take place on your device. These local functions do not upload your PPT files, images or note contents to our servers. The application accesses the source files you select and stores projects, exports, temporary sessions, image/render caches and settings on your device. Project files may contain extracted text and source file paths. Check sensitive information before sharing them.

The Store-installed edition uses the current user's application LocalState directory for working data. The portable edition normally uses a data directory beside the application; development or custom configuration may use another location. Saved projects and exported documents are stored where you choose.

3. Optional third-party AI

AI is not required for local OCR. You choose the provider, endpoint, model and API key. When you initiate AI recognition, the application sends a processed image of the selected image block, your recognition prompt, model and request parameters to the configured service, authenticating with your API key. The returned text is used in your notes. This operation does not upload the entire PPT, but the selected image may itself contain sensitive information. The AI test feature also connects to the service and sends test text and an application-provided test image, not an image from your presentation.

Providers and their infrastructure may receive your network IP address, account-related information and the request contents. Retention, processing locations, model-training use, fees and deletion options depend on the provider's terms and settings. We do not promise that providers will not retain data or use it for training. Review their privacy policies and avoid sending unauthorized personal information, student records, trade secrets or other sensitive content. Use an HTTPS endpoint where possible.

4. Settings and local logs

AI profiles and API keys are stored locally. Keys are not included in .pptn project files. This policy does not claim that keys use operating-system-level encryption. Protect your device, account and backups, and do not publish the configuration directory. Local logs may contain file paths, profile names, model names, operation times and error details. Ordinary local operations do not automatically send these logs to the developer. Review and redact sensitive information before sending logs to support.

5. Retention, deletion and choices

You may use local features without configuring AI and may delete AI profiles in settings. You manage your source files, saved projects and exports. Deleting a project does not automatically delete its source PPT, exported documents or all caches. Working caches, temporary sessions and logs normally remain locally until removed by application cleanup, you or the operating system. Close the application and back up needed projects, source files and settings before deleting working data. Uninstallation does not guarantee removal of separately saved documents, portable directories or backups. Deletion of data already received by an AI provider is subject to that provider's process; deleting a local project does not delete the provider's copy.

6. Store, website and support

Microsoft handles Store downloads, purchases and account activities under its own policies. When you choose “Check Store entitlement” in the Microsoft Store-installed client, the app obtains a temporary Microsoft Store ID key and sends it over HTTPS to our AWS service in Singapore. The service uses it only to query PPTNOTE entitlement through the official Microsoft Store API and discards it after the request; we do not store the key, your Microsoft account, name, email or document contents. The AWS service briefly processes the request IP address for rate limiting. Access logs for this endpoint are disabled; error logs may contain the IP address, request path and error status and follow the log rotation policy below. Microsoft processes the Store ID key and entitlement query under its own policies. You may skip this online check; it requires an internet connection and Microsoft Store availability. The website is hosted on AWS in Singapore. It uses no cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or third-party fonts or scripts. Network connections expose source IP addresses to the server and hosting provider. Routine domain-site access logging is disabled. Error logs may contain IP addresses, request paths and error details for troubleshooting. They rotate daily with up to seven archives and a seven-day archive retention policy; cleanup occurs at rotation, not immediately. System security logs may record SSH source IPs. Journald has a 14-day retention policy and a 200MB capacity target; SSH text logs rotate weekly with four archives. AWS handles infrastructure data under its own policies.

When you email us, we and our email provider process the email address, message and attachments you choose to provide to respond to your request. Provide only necessary information and do not send API keys. You may contact support about handling or deleting support information you previously provided. Support email retention: messages are retained as needed to respond, follow up and address disputes; there is no uniform fixed deletion period. You may request deletion through the support email, except for information that must be retained by law.

7. Changes and contact

We will update this policy and its effective date for material changes in data handling. Privacy inquiries: pebble.apps@outlook.com.
